Fortnite Joy Ride Update: What to Expect

Epic Games confirmed the arrival of Fortnite’s long-anticipated car update. Fans of the battle royale should get ready for some cool rides.

Season 3 of Epic Games’ praised battle royale has been defined by its fantastic underwater theming – the flooded map introduced mechanics such as water skiing behind loot sharks, and a crossover with DC Comics’ Aquaman.

But as the map has started to drain, players are now waiting for the next journey. The promised car update is finally on its way, and here is what you need to know.

Fortnite’s Car Journey: What to Expect

On Fortnite’s official Twitter account, there’s an image of a blue-and-red car dubbed “Whiplash,” and with it a launch date. Players can experience the Joy Ride Update starting August 5.

Driving vehicles has been teased since the first trailer for Season 3 was released, but last month (July), it was announced over social media that car update would be delayed for “a few weeks until we’re road ready.” However, despite the postponement, fans already have a good idea of what they might be able to expect to arrive in Fortnite this week.

Data miners leaked damage and mechanical values for Fortnite cars utilizing files from version 13.30, while also unveiling there are a variety of vehicles to choose from such as sports cars, semi-trucks, pickup trucks, and sedans.

Vehicles have been present all over Fornite’s map since Season 3: Splashdown started in June, so players should be excited to get their hands on one finally. The police cars were removed, though, amid Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality worldwide following the tragic deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. So, no police cars will be included in the update.

Many updates of Season 3’s run have introduced lots of new locales and activities. Last week, for example, a new area dubbed Coral Castle was added to Fortnite.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, mobile, and Switch. PS5 and Xbox Series X variants are in development.
