Windows 10 – May 2020 Updates Highlights

Microsoft is prepared to launch the next big Windows 10 update, so you might be wondering what is in store for you.

The update is known as the Windows 10 May 2020 update, it is also recognizable as Windows 10 version 2004, and Windows 10 20H1, and it packs a bunch of changes.

While some changes are less critical than others, the new update will feature modifications to Cortana, Settings, Search, Windows Subsystem for Linux 2, and Virtual Desktops.

Cortana updates will make the digital assistant more useful than it’s ever been. Cortana won’t be stuck on the search bar anymore. Instead, she can be moved and resized and will learn a set of new updated skills that will help your daily Windows errands.

The Search feature has also been updated. Some designated algorithms will improve disk management and handle when file indexing runs.

Search is now capable of correcting spelling mistakes.

Quick Searches will help you find relevant online information, like the weather forecast, in an attractive package thanks to a new UI.

Windows Subsystem for Linux 2

The WSL 2 will be introduced to a full Linux kernel, which will be upgradable via Windows Update, just like other components are.

Memory usage was optimized.

Fun fact – There is now support for a broader range of kaomoji.

Virtual Desktops

Virtual desktops were improved so that the setting will be kept between reboots.

Also, users can rename each desktop to make them easily identifiable.

The settings app now contains features that used to be part of past iterations of the control panel.

One other new gimmick that was introduced is an always-on-top option for the Calculator app, which can be useful in many situations.

Also, Notepad received some new features.

We can’t wait to get the new update on our systems and see all that it has to offer!
