When You Can’t Hear Certain Noises, Google’s Sound Notifications Alerts Will Help You

Those who have hearing deficits and not only will surely be delighted by a new feature proposed by Google: the Sound Notifications for household noises such as water running, smoke and fire alarms, someone knocking on the door, and so on.

The new feature won’t let users miss any important sound, as they will receive a push notification, a flash from the camera light, or a vibration for making them more aware of their surroundings.

Live Transcribe is up for grabs

Live Transcribe is the piece of software you need. You’ll just have to search and download it from the Play Store, and head for a simple setting: turning on the Sound Notifications functionality by accessing Settings > Accessibility.

The app is able to recognize several different noises, due to the phone’s microphone:

  • Water running
  • Landline phone ringing
  • Shouting
  • Baby sounds
  • Doorbell ringing
  • Smoke and fire alarms
  • Siren
  • Dog barking
  • Appliance beeping
  • Knocking

A presentation video makes it crystal clear:

When you have hearing loss or are wearing headphones, Sound Notifications makes important and critical household sounds more accessible by recognizing important noises and sending you push notifications, flashing from your camera light, or vibrations on your Android phone and Wear OS watch. Designed in collaboration with Gallaudet University, the world’s premier university for deaf and hard of hearing people.

Tired of not hearing when someone’s knocking on your door because you want to listen to music on your headphones at the same time? Tired of not hearing your baby crying when he needs you? Live Transcribe aims to solve such problems once and for all, and we’re already eager to see it in actions on as many phones as possible.

Don’t hesitate, grab the app from the Play Store and put it to the test! It’s free of charge!
