WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app in the world, with hundreds of millions of active players each month.
The app offers a large number of excellent features, which attracted many users. Unlike other developers, the team behind WhatsApp works hard on the release of new updates which add new improvements and features.
Beta releases of the Android users are already available, and they offer a large amount of information which is not available otherwise. Read below to learn more about the new features.
Splash Screen
Upon launching the app, the WhatsApp will appear for a few seconds before it is replaced by the familiar chat interface. The app will take into account if Dark Mode is active on the device, and it matches the color of the splash screen to minimize possible discomfort.
Improvements to muting statuses
In some cases, you may want to mute status updates shared by a particular contact. Even if you perform this task the updates will be visible at the bottom of the status feed in the form of a grayscale. The new option will allow users to hide these updates as they will be grouped under a new category, which is known as muted updates.
Disappearing messages
In this day and age, privacy is important, and in some cases someone may try to use a message against you in a given context. For those who wish to boost the security of their conversations, WhatsApp will add the option to send self-destructing messages. Users can pick between an interval of 5 seconds, one hour, one day, seven days, or thirty days. After the time expires the message will disappear automatically.
Dark Mode
This is one of the most anticipated features, and it seems that it will make an appearance when a future update is released. Users will have the option to choose between a default theme, a light theme or the dark theme.
