Many Valve fans are looking forward to the release of the upcoming Valve Index VR kits, the first foray company into virtual reality hardware. The waiting period will be a bit shorter than it seemed as Valve has announced that the kits will be available on the market from March 9.
Previous batches of the product have been on sale since the summer of 2019, but the stocks were depleted a while ago. While some people were skeptical when the Valve Index was announced at first, many people have embraced the excellent VR accessory.
Valve has contributed to the rise of VR technology for PC users as it worked on a tracking system and several prototypes. Steam VR is one of the most popular platforms for the distribution of VR games, and Valve worked with HTC during the development of the popular HTC Vive Headsets.
More about Valve Index VR
Unlike other VR headsets that are present on the market, Valve Index has been designed from the ground up to offer an in-depth VR experience at a premium price. With a price tag of $999 is twice as expensive as the HTC Vive and two and a half times more pricy than the Oculus Rift.
The Valve Index kit comes with a second generation of the two base stations, which have to be placed at opposite corners of the play space. Valve has mentioned that they offer a superior experience, with one example being a boosted diagonal range of up to 10 by 10 meters if the players place four beacons.
Another great reason to opt for a Valve Index VR kit is represented by the anticipated release of Half-Life: Alyx, which should take place on March 23. The mere announcement of the video game doubled the amount of sold Index units. Keep an eye on Steam if you wish to buy one before it the stocks end.
