The NES Mario game takes the cake

The NES version of the first Super Mario game was the first to start the hegemony of the funny little plumber. Mario later became such an iconic figure in the gaming industry, having numerous dedicated video games for various platforms. The franchise has over 200 games, and there are no signs that it plans to slow down even in 2020. Titles like Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Maker, and Super Mario Run are still enjoying plenty of popularity.

For instance, Super Mario Run was the most-downloaded Android game in 2017. Sensor Tower estimated that by July 2018, Super Mario Run had generated a revenue of $60 million. As of September 2018, about 300 million devices worldwide downloaded and installed Super Mario Run. Mario never seems to get obsolete despite being more than three decades old, and we can’t wait to find out about future related games.
