Samsung Galaxy S20 vs. OnePlus 8 Pro – The Battle Of The Giants

Two of the most popular Android smartphones released this year, and you can’t go wrong with them – The Samsung Galaxy S20 and OnePlus 8 Pro are continually making the headlines!

They have similar pricing, review scores, and a top of the line spec list. The fight will be intense, especially if you are looking to buy one, as that would set you back financially the equivalent of buying an old car. Let’s start with that, as we are going through a bit of a global financial crisis due to the pandemic.

Pricing And Availability

The Galaxy S20 was released on March 6, while the OnePlus 8Pro was released on April 21.

In terms of money, the S20 starts from £799, and the OnePlus 8 Pro starts at the same price. Curiously, the latter isn’t available in Australia.

Looks And Functionality

Both devices look gorgeous, and there’s little room for imperfections, so it’s up to you to decide which one is prettier.

Samsung’s model is undoubtedly more popular among business users.

However, the OnePlus 8Pro is nearly 40 grams lighter and marginally thinner.

The S20 has a flatter display than that of the OnePlus, resulting in less false presses and visual distortion when watching landscape content.

Both devices pack a hole-punch selfie camera, but with different positioning.

Performance

In terms of performance, both perform similarly, so it’s not worth going into detail about CPU clock speed and others.

It’s 2020, and processing power isn’t a problem anymore.

However, the battery still is!

The OnePlus 8 Pro packs a 4510 mAh battery, while Samsung’s model features a 4000 mAh unit.

Curiously, the Samsung’s battery lasts longer compared to an OnePlus 8 Pro set at 120Hz and QHD output. However, you’re likely not going to keep it running at peak power each day.
