Marantz AV receivers might supercharge PS5 and Xbox Series X audio.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X both support high-resolution 4K and 8K gaming and promise to offer strong audio skills. Marantz and its new series of AV amps and receivers that arrive with next-gen console-friendly 8K support can facilitate 120Hz gaming at 4K thanks to HDMI 2.1 connectivity. And the AV kit also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, ready to get the most out of next-gen games with ray-tracing and high-fidelity graphics capabilities. Here is what you need to know.
Marantz AV Might Support the Next-gen Consoles: What to Expect
Marantz’s new AV range, which includes three amplifiers and one receiver, all come with features ready for the next-gen consoles. And there’s also support for Quick Media Switching (QMS), which allows for fast switching between media sources without triggering screen blackouts. Such a thing could prove more useful when you want to switch from a gaming session to a movie seamlessly. These visual and audio features won’t come cheap, of course. The SR5015 receiver is costing £899, approximately $1,130.
But if you have a home cinema, a powerful audio system, and the money, then the Marantz system could be worth the price. With support for 9.1 and 7.2 surround sound, the new AV range could tap into the immersive sound the next-gen consoles promise to deliver.
There’s only one thing. Sony has stated that the dedicated headphones like its PS5-focused Pulse 3D wireless headset will be needed to obtain the most out of the 3D audio tech the PS5 will bring. Such a thing means that support for Sony’s upcoming sound tech might not be carried through to the recent AV kit.
With the promise of mighty performance, ray-tracing graphics, virtually no loading times, and high-resolution gaming at quick frame rates, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X prove to be the most impressive next-gen consoles.
