A 24K gold-plated PlayStation 5 might be that one thing you’ve waited all your life. Or, probably not, because it could cost you an arm and a leg.
The news of a PS5 24K Gold Edition came from British luxury brand Truly Exquisite, which is known to have a way with precious metals and tech. Here is what you need to know.
PS5 24K Gold Edition: a Luxurious Way of Playing Games
If it happens to have a wad of cash, you’ll be able to buy a PS5 24K Gold Edition or platinum. Of course, it’ll cost thousands of dollars or pounds, so if you want to save a bit, there’ll be an 18-karat rose gold version, as well.
There is no official price tag for such exquisite PS5, but as Truly Exquisite founder Kunal Patel stated, there’ll be “probably no more than 100 units released worldwide.” We should expect the gold-covered PS5 to cost at least the amount of five iPhone 12 Pro Max smartphones.
Back in 2013, a 24-karat gold Xbox One was available for 6,000 pounds, approximately $8,000, at Harrods, a luxury store. So, we might see a PS5 with the Truly Exquisite signature to arrive with the same price tag or more.
While the PS5’s design has been quite discussed and argued, you’d really have to appreciate the aesthetic of the console, but hate its color scheme to warrant getting one coated in gold or platinum.
Sony has stated that its next-gen console will arrive with a lot of customs finishes after its launch. But a gold edition is probably not what it had in mind.
Even if you can spend that amount of money on a gold PS5, it’s worth noting that the next-gen console kicks out 10.28 teraflops of power. Such a thing represents more than current consoles, which would probably explain why the PS5 is so massive – it needs a lot of space for cooling its mighty components.
