This month, OnePlus upgraded its OnePlus 7 series with the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro models. The company did that to keep it up with the latest high-end models released by the competition. Both OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro rolled out with 5G, 90Hz refresh rate, and super-wide camera sensor. But, the fans are already looking forward to OnePlus 8.
OnePlus 8, the upcoming device from the Chinese company, would sport Snapdragon 865 chipset and the better 5G modem from Qualcomm, known as Snapdragon X55 Modem. These new features come along with other improvements.
The report on the improvements brought by OnePlus 8 appeared on the Chinese social network Weibo. OnePlus introduced 5G support on OnePlus 7, but it ditched the feature on the latest OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro. However, the whole OnePlus 7 series has been successful, and 2019 was the best year for the Chinese manufacturer.
OnePlus 8 To Sport Snapdragon 865 And Improved 5G Modem
According to the report on Weibo, OnePlus 8 would come out with Snapdragon 865 and improved 5G modem, the Qualcomm’s X55 Modem for a better 5G support. Accordingly, OnePlus 8 would offer better support for the 5G network than the OnePlus 7 models.
X55 Modem is the second generation of 5G modems from Qualcomm, and it functions as a standalone modem, not connected to the SoC. X55 works solely on 5G networks, and it’s not using the LTE signals for functions such as messages and voice calls. The Qualcomm’s X55 modem is also employing one chip to communicate with 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G networks. That improves battery life and reduces manufacturing costs.
On the other hand, OnePlus 8 would come with Snapdragon 865, the latest technology of chipsets coming from Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 865 would be much faster and reliable than Snapdragon 855. In short, the upcoming OnePlus 8 promises to be an excellent, high-end smartphone. It would also be cheaper than other similar models, which would attract some users, for sure.
