Leaker offers a glimpse of the LoL fighting game

Riot Games has been hard at work in recent months, and the company has recently announced a selection of fresh titles, while also sharing a few details about some current projects, including the anticipated League of Legends fighting games.

An official announcement or trailer is not available at this point, but some gameplay aspects have been teased by a reliable source.

It seems that Riot Games will implement the same popular 2D style, which can be observed in most fighting games, including Mortal Kombat and Injustice.

While League of Legends is excited by the project, Riot strived to keep the initiative a secret. Some voices speculated that the game is developed by the former employees of Radiant Entertainment, a company that was acquired by Riot in the past. Radiant Games worked on Rising Thunder, a free-to-play 2.5D fighting game that was cancelled after the developer was bought.

Rising Thunder was aimed at casual players, offering an experience that was streamlined and accessible for new players. It remains to be seen if a similar approach will be taken in the case of Project L, but Riot may opt to make the title more simple in an attempt to attract the maximum number of potential players.

League of Legends remains one of the most popular video games in the world, and the franchise built around it continues to gain steam as Riot Games announces new ventures. Besides the fighting game, Riot plans to release Legends of Runettera, a card game which appears to be inspired by Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering. A shooter set in the League of Legends universe is also in development under the codename of Project A.

Riot has also officially announced that the console and mobile version of League of Legend will be released in the future.
