WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging services for mobile phones. It has also been ported to some qwerty mobile phones, namely the Nokia Asha 200 and Nokia Asha 201, as well as others running Java.
However, the installation process for the Asha 200 and Asha 210 is a bit different from what we are used to on smartphones.
Requirements
First, make sure that you have at least 3MB worth of free storage space and 5MB left for browsing. If your phone is dual-SIM, remove the second SIM card.
Downloading And Installing WhatsApp
Open a web browser on your computer and look for WhatsApp APK for Nokia Asha 200.
Download the file/files and transfer them to the memory card of your Nokia Asha.
On the Nokia, look for the downloaded files and copy them to the Application folder, after you make sure that there are no duplicate files.
Open the file and then click on the option that prompts you to UPDATE VERSION.
Once it gets downloaded, a prompt will say OPEN FILE NOW, FILE DOWNLOADED TO MY APPS, which will start the installation process. Click yes when asked to.
WhatsApp will ask for your phone number and will send a confirmation SMS as soon as you input it.
After that, you are all set. The home screen of WhatsApp will appear, and you’ll be able to use the app.
Alternative Installation
You can, alternatively, open the Nokia Store app on your phone and then run it. Search for S40 WhatsApp Messenger in the store and then click on it to download and install it automatically.
We say that this method is more of an alternative because the Nokia Store servers aren’t exactly reliable, and you’ll often find that the app doesn’t work at all.
