Even though it’s less than a year old, Google’s Stadia cloud gaming service managed to become pretty popular. GamesIndustry reveals that the platform gathered one million users around the world. More than 225,000 users of Android and iOS even downloaded Stadia in a single week.
Google Stadia was initially intended to run only on computers and smartphones, but it seems like the tech giant from Mountain View is determined to raise the stakes even higher.
4K HDR support is ready for Android TV
Installing Google Stadia on a smart TV that’s equipped with Android will now grant you 4K HDR support for your favorite games. This happens due to Stadia’s latest update. The feature began rolling out at least for a significant number of Android TV’s.
Google itself resumes the essential aspects of its Stadia service by saying:
Play instantly with one click You choose the screens where your games live. Play on compatible laptops, desktops, phones, and tablets. It’s up to you. And to play on TVs, grab Stadia Premiere Edition, available now on the Google Store.
Although not all games available for the major consoles Xbox One, PlayStation 5, or Switch are playable as well through Stadia, Google’s cloud gaming service still offers a selection of attractive titles. We can mention Doom Eternal, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, The Elder Scrolls Online, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Avengers, Borderlands 3, Far Cry 6, NBA 2K20, Mortal Kombat 11, Red Dead Online, Metro Exodus, Darksiders Genesis, Dirt 5, and many more.
Another major title in gaming, namely FIFA 21, will also become available for Google Stadia after it arrives in October. The game is supposed to solve some significant problems of the predecessor FIFA 20, and it shall be interesting to see how it will be adapted for Google Stadia.
More games are added every month on Stadia, which means that you better check the roster as often as you can.
