Fitbit launched a SpO2-centric clock face just ahead of next week’s Apple Watch arrival.
Even if Fitbit has recently announced new smartwatches, that doesn’t mean it can’t give some attention to older models. The company introduced a SpO2-centric clock face for actual Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. Here is everything you need to know.
New Feature For Old Versions of Fitbit Smartwatches
While everyone is waiting for the new Fitbit Versa 3 and Fitbit Sense, those with any Versa or Ionic model (the Versa Lite, too) can now install the SpO2 Signature face.
The SpO2 Signature face shows the users’ current blood oxygen levels, which can be utilized to inform both sleep tracking and workouts. The new feature is a great addition, amongst the best features so far, because it can indicate some underlying health conditions.
Well, it can’t diagnose you with blood oxygenation issues, but it can “inspire” you to seek medical advice. But that only if breathing difficulties are causing sleep troubles and other ailments.
More About the SpO2 Signature Feature
The SpO2 Signature is also an excellent metric for when users are working out. If the blood oxygen levels drop below an average level, it could mean users need immediately to ease up on their exercise before they injure themselves.
The feature, as the name suggests, displays SpO2 readings front and center. Users can simply just tap on their Fitbit’s screen to explore a menu of metrics, such as the Active Zone Minutes, step count, stair count, and heart rate.
Fitbit’s new update is launched just before the Apple Watch 6’s imminent arrival, which should take place on September 15. The next-gen of the Apple Watch is expected to come with its SpO2 monitor.
It will be interesting to see how the tech giant based in Cupertino will incorporate the feature. Fitbit, however, knows for sure how to do it. It also promised to bring more useful features soon.
