Now you can run many Android apps on Windows 10, but only if you have a Samsung smartphone.
If you have a Windows 10 PC and an Android handset, the two devices will work flawlessly together from now on. And such a thing thanks to the “Your Phone” feature that allows Android apps in Windows 10. Here is what you need to know.
Your Phone Feature Availability Details
The update for the Your Phone feature began rolling out a few days ago. Initially, the update was available for beta testing.
As great as things might sound, there is a catch. Your Phone works only with the supported Samsung smartphones. Other Android handsets will likely receive the feature in the coming months.
The feature has already been tested on a Windows 10 device, and it works relatively well after a few troubles with connections and notifications.
How Does it Work
When selecting the app section in Your Phone, it will show a list of all the apps on the smartphone. Click on your favorite one, and a window will pop up. That’s basically a screen recording of the connected handset. And from there, you can manage the apps on your smartphone from Windows 10.
The feature could be a bit laggy, with a slight but still notable delay from clicking on a button or an app and for an action to happen. Also, Your Phone might get disconnected if you don’t use it for a few minutes.
However, once up and running for more than one hour, the upgraded Your Phone app will work flawlessly, aside from the lag mentioned above, which is not that bad.
Closer integration between all your devices and Windows 10 is probably the greatest thing ever. Your Phone is similar to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The service can enable Xbox and first-party Microsoft games to be played on current Xbox consoles and Windows PCs.
