MeediOS has a couple of plugins that can download data from online sources for your Movies and Music collections. Each plugin supports additional plugins for grabbing data called scrapers. Recently an update has been released that can automatically download available scrapers that have been uploaded to OpenMAID on the MeediOS website. Scrapers can be used to grab fanart, posters, details, album reviews, lyrics and artist images. Anyone can write a scaper plugin following a basic API which has resulted in many sites and languages being suported in MeediOS.

MeediOS is designed around a very small core with many plugins. Each plugin performs its own task which together makes up the HTPC application. This makes MeediOS infinitely configurable but difficult to setup for the new user. For this reason we offer an "ultimate pack" that includes all the necessary plugins, importers and views to get up and running. Our friends over at meedios-france.com have started a global project to internationalize MeediOS with various install packs. meePopupProvider has been updated by flclsd and includes lots of new features and core functionality for MeediOS. In its simplest form, the plugin can show info on an artist, album or a movie in a pop up on screen. flclsd also added functions to delete files, custom ratings, cycle fanart or check the weather. Fancy controlling MeediOS from your Iphone? A new API from forum member Hisduty might just let that happen. He's currently working on an Iphone interface for MeediOS as part of his Web API project. This may seem like a small change but flclsd has been playing around with WPF and found a way to have a nice popup window on the media browsing screens. This allows the user to press a remote button and show, for example Artist Biographies or TV show information with fanart. Another nice addition to MeediOS coming soon... |
